Botanical experts of the Indian Botanical Survey Institute studied this flower and its report has been published on 30 July within the French Scientific General ‘Dirchdina’. consistent with this, there are about 320 species of Liparis pygmaea within the world, of which about 48 species are in India. Of these, 10 species are found thus far within the Western Himalayas.

This wonderful and rare flower has appeared on the Saptakund track at an altitude of about 3800 meters in Chamoli district. Never before has this flower been seen within the area. Forest Officer Harish Negi says that two officials of the Uttarakhand Forest Department had confirmed the blooming of this rare flower in June. Junior Research Fellow Manoj Singh says that after the invention of the flower two months ago, it had been sent to Pune-based Botanical Survey of India (BSI) for investigation. Then it had been identified.

Dr. Jeevan Lal Jalal of the Indian Botanical Survey Western Regional Center, Pune, Maharashtra, says that this flower of rare species blooms up to five cm within the month of June. He was the primary to reveal the identity of this flower. He says that after 124 years within the country, a rare species of flower, Liparis pygmaea has blossomed.

He also told that 250 out of 1250 species of flowers are found within the mountains of Uttarakhand. of these are seen in areas with altitude of 3100 to 3900 meters. Dr. Jalal has thus far identified three species of Liparis pygmaea.

According to Dr. Jalal, earlier this flower was seen in Sikkim in 1877 and 1892. Then during the year 1896 it had been also found in West Bengal . They believe that this flower has blossomed again after years. This incident is teaching us to require better steps for conservation of Himalayas.
